Jenny Mish, PhD, Associate

Jenny Mish develops social impact projects, with special interests in business sustainability, local food systems, and women’s leadership. Her management and strategic planning clients have included business, community and non-profit organizations. She is skilled in strategic questioning, qualitative analysis, pithy communication, participatory facilitation, multi-stakeholder collaboration, and community-based social marketing. She is a comprehensive yet detail-oriented critical thinker, who helps organizations develop systemic integrity and innovation.

Previously, Mish was an Assistant Professor of Marketing at the University of Notre Dame, where she taught Marketing and Sustainability, and Principles of Marketing. Her research has been published in academic books and peer-reviewed journals. Her dissertation examined the centralizing and decentralizing forces in the development of sustainability-related food product standards. She has also studied pioneering triple-bottom line firms, values-based consumers, innovative currency systems, value-added agriculture, food marketing in schools, and the cultural impacts of food globalization in India.

Mish is passionate about macro systemic change toward an economy that works for everyone. Her lifelong commitment to service and sustainability began in childhood with her family's dedication to a natural food cooperative offering social and environmental programming. She has since served on a Community Food Assessment Advisory Board, launched a Net Impact Professional Chapter, and collaboratively organized a conference on values and wealth. She is trained in Doug McKenzie-Mohr's approach to Fostering Sustainable Behavior, and she is certified by the Institute for Cultural Affairs as a Technology of Participation Facilitator.

She holds a PhD from the University of Utah, an MBA from the University of Montana, and a BA from Arizona State University.
